Great offers available on mortgages!

There are some great deals available on UK mortgages at the moment, according to one expert who has suggested that now would be a good time for people to remortgage.

Catherine Hearnden, director at MyMortgageDirect, noted that there has been an increase in the number of people looking to remortgage, which she attributed to recent rumours about interest rates rising.

Another reason is that some of the banks and lenders started putting up their standard variable rates, she said.

She recommended that people nearing the end of their current mortgage should take time to find the best deal, but said there is no need to rush into anything.

"I think that there is time to take your time on it. Having said that, there are some very good deals out there and it is definitely worth looking," Ms Hearnden noted.

The expert said it has been made a little bit easier, as loan-to-values have increased, so there are not as many people stuck on their standard variable rate as there were.

Her comments came after sector analyst Unbiased recently reported  that in 2012 demand for remortgage advice is on the rise.

Searches for remortgage advice increased to 35 per cent of all mortgage enquiries in May 2012, compared to 30 per cent in April and 30 per cent in the same period last year.
